How Seniors Can Enjoy a Sexy Shower Together
December 12, 2021
The other morning I was writing at my computer when I heard the shower coming on in my wife’s bathroom. I listened a little longer to determine if it was the bath filling with water or indeed a shower. When I determined it was the shower, I quickly stripped off my clothing, grabbed my towel out of my bathroom, and headed into her bathroom. Stepping into the shower, I saw she was standing facing away from me. I stood there for a few seconds just admiring the view of her nude body, before announcing my presence with a light touch.
Many of us were teenagers when the saying, “Shower together; save water” was popular. It was a turn-on for me to think about sharing a shower with a woman. My young man’s mind didn’t have much trouble imagining the details of what might happen with two wet, slippery nude bodies in a small space.
As I opened the shower curtain and stepped in with my wife, my older man’s mind was also imagining the details of what might happen with two wet, slippery nude bodies in a small space!
Sensual Connecting in the Shower
Taking a shower together may lead to sex in the shower or afterward, or it may be only a time for touching, connection, and enjoyment of each other. It’s a nice way to connect, touch, and show care and attraction for each other.
Here are some non-sexual but sensual things we’ve done in the shower:
- Give each other a shoulder massage
- Shampoo each other’s hair.
- Clean each other’s bodies with a wash cloth and liquid soap.
- Enjoy the visual delight of seeing our partner wet and nude.
All of these activities result in positive feelings and appreciation for each other. It’s a nice way to connect in the morning before beginning the activities of the day.
How to Foreplay in the Shower
Taking a shower together can also get sexy. It lends itself well to activities we commonly call foreplay.
You can kiss and stroke each other’s wet, slippery bodies. The man can fondle, lick and suck the woman’s nipples. She can stroke the man’s penis or drop to her knees to take him in her mouth. He can also get on his knees to pleasure her orally.
There are waterproof sex toys that are ideal to use in the shower, such as the Luna Personal Massager. The woman can use it on herself, or the man can hold it. A silicon dildo would also work well in the shower.
Another great sex toy is a hand-held showerhead. Many women can become aroused and have an orgasm when the water stream from the showerhead is directed toward their clitoris.
These activities can lead to sex while in the shower, or afterward outside the shower. There have been several times we’ve gotten out, dried off, and moved into the bedroom for a sexual encounter. Or, the touching in the shower in the morning has resulted in sex later that day or evening.
How to Have Sex in the Shower
The shower is not necessarily the most comfortable place to enjoy a sexual romp, but it is doable and can be great fun! If your shower foreplay leads to a desire for more, you don’t have to wait until after your shower.
Water is not a good lubricant for sex. It can wash away a woman’s natural lubricant and make sex painful. I suggest a silicone lubricant like Überlube Luxury Lubricant. It won’t wash away like a water-based lubricant (washes off with soap), and won’t make the floor dangerously slippery like an oil-based lubricant. One warning: don’t use a silicone lubricant with silicone toys or condoms; it can break down the material.
Some sex-in-the-shower options we’ve tried:
- Standing up facing each other. It can be a little difficult at times to stay inside the woman, but is a very intimate face-to-face position.
- Woman bending over. This is likely the easiest way to have sex in the shower. She can angle halfway over, or if flexible, can bend all the way over with her hands on the floor for support.
- If there is a seat built into the shower, the man can sit, and the woman can straddle him. This works best with the woman facing away from the man, sitting in his lap.
- Both of you can lay down in the shower if the shower is large enough. Nice hotel walk-in showers are often ideal for this!
Sex in the shower can be great, but you also need to take some precautions. Elders don’t necessarily have the best balance. Sexual positions can be awkward and result in a dangerous fall if we’re not careful.
- Watch your footing. Water, soap, and tile can result in some very slippery footing. It’s best to use a rubber shower mat with suction cups to provide a stable, non-slip surface.
- Be careful not to use the shower door for support while having sex. Shower doors are not designed to support weight and might be damaged or cause you injury if it breaks or gives way.
- If you have bars mounted in the shower, use them for support and stability. Many homes, especially those in elder communities, are built with support bars mounted in the shower.
Showering Together
Showering together can do more than just make you clean; it can lead to a sensual connection between partners, sexual foreplay, or sex in the shower. If you’re not already doing this, I urge you to give it a try!
You can talk about the possibility with your partner, or just surprise them by showing up nude in their shower and seeing what kind of reaction you get. I recommend, at a minimum, you let your partner know that they are welcome to join you in the shower anytime.
