Sex Accessories for the Senior Bedroom

We, like most people, have sex in the bedroom more than in any other location. Over the years, we’ve found that there are many bedroom accessories that make sex more comfortable, more exciting, and more convenient.

Pillows, Pillows, and More Pillows!

Pillows are commonly found on the bed. They have more uses than just laying your head on when sleeping. They make great creative sex accessories. You might even want to bring a few more into the bedroom before sexual play.

Some couples enjoy the position where the man sits on the bed while leaning against the headboard or wall, and the woman sits between his legs with her back to him. The man can reach around and fondle the woman’s breasts and vulva in this position. A pillow or two behind his back can make it much more comfortable.

When a woman lies on her back to receive oral, it makes access easier by opening her up and raising her vulva if you place a pillow or two under her hips and lower back. This also makes it more comfortable for her partner to perform oral on her.

Pillows can be used to enhance many sex positions.

Pillows can also be used under a woman’s torso when she is on her hands and knees for doggy-style sex. The pillows can provide some support and take some weight off her knees and wrists. This can be particularly helpful for women who have arthritis in their joints, knee problems, or other pain issues.

In the 69 position with the woman above, it can be tiring for the man to keep his head lifted to give the lady oral. A pillow or two under his head and neck provides the support he needs to comfortably place his mouth at the proper height to stimulate his partner.

No One Wants to Sleep in the Wet Spot

The “wet spot” remaining after a sexual rendezvous can be very uncomfortable. It’s wet, cold, sticky, and messy.

One of the best sexual aids we have purchased is a waterproof blanket. We spread it out on the bed before sex, and when we’re done, we pull it off and throw it in the washer. No need to change sheets or lay in the wet spot. If the blanket is smaller, it’s easy to take on trips and use in hotels as well as your home.

Some women “flow” when they get sexually aroused and can release a lot of fluid during sex. Female ejaculation is a real thing. If a woman flows a lot, it can soak your unprotected bed through blankets and sheets. It’s a lot of unwanted work to strip the bed, wash and dry sheets and mattress pads, then put them all back on the bed. A waterproof blanket can make this a non-issue.

Have sex on a waterproof blanket to make cleanup easier and not sleep in the wet spot.

We recommend and own, two brands of waterproof blankets. Both have a soft, comfortable outside layer and a waterproof inner layer.

Another great waterproof cover is the Liberator Fascinator Throw Moisture-Proof Sensual Blanket. The King Size blanket is available on Amazon. We bring the smaller travel size when we’re going to a hotel, and sometimes use it at home when we don’t need to cover the entire bed.

Sexual Furniture; Who Knew it Existed?

Sexual furniture is designed specifically to enhance your body’s natural angles and contours for sex. It can include wedges, ramps, sofas, sex benches, and sex loungers.

We recommend you start with a basic Liberator Wedge Ramp Combo set, available at Amazon. It comes in a variety of colors, with a removable washable cover. The pieces can be used separately or together to arrange different surfaces for different purposes. For example, to facilitate oral or for a modified missionary position a woman can lie back on the ramp with her vulva at the high end, and rest her head on the wedge. Or, she can straddle the ramp and lay on it, to provide her support for rear-entry positions.

Furniture designed specifically to enhance sex can be useful and well worth the cost.

An enhanced version, the Black Label Wedge Ramp Combo, is available for those who enjoy restraint. It comes with cuff connection points, and you can order a “cuff kit” with soft cuffs that are designed to snap into the connections.

Sexual furniture is on the expensive side. But, in our experience, it is well worth it. We’ve had the Black Label Wedge Ramp Combo for around 15 years now, and it still functions and looks just like it did when new.

An Under-the-Bed Restraint System

If you enjoy occasionally tying down your partner for sexual play, we recommend the Sportsheets Under the Bed Restraint System, available at Amazon. It is a system of connected webbing that goes under your mattress, providing four attachment points, two at the head of the bed, and two at the foot. It also comes with four soft restraints for wrists and ankles.

You can arrange the webbing any way you choose. We often have the two top attachment points close together at the head of the bed for restraining wrists. The two attachment points at the foot of the bed are spread apart, one at each corner.

When not in use, you can stuff the ends under the mattress, so they’re not visible. When you’re ready to play with them, it only takes a minute to pull them out.

A Bedside Table with Drawers

The most often used sex accessories we have in our bedroom are our bedside night tables with drawers. Inside the drawers, within easy reach, we keep lubrication, small cleanup towels, and my partner’s favorite sex toys.

If you don’t have side tables, we recommend that in advance of play, you lay out any items you’ll likely need. It’s always good to have lubrication, a small cleanup towel, and a favorite sex toy within reach.
