How Seniors Can Enhance Their Sex Lives with Sex Videos

If your immediate reaction to the title of this article is one of surprise or disgust, it may be because you have bought into our culture’s presumption that seniors are sexless. Yes, seniors do watch and benefit from watching sex videos, as many other adults do. There are even some sex videos that focus on and feature seniors.

The Two Major Types of Sex Videos

Sex videos fall into two broad categories: videos for entertainment and videos for education. While there is some overlap between the two, it’s useful to know the difference and not confuse the two. They each have different purposes.

1. Porn Videos are for Entertainment

Sex videos for entertainment are those we commonly refer to as porn videos. They are primarily designed to entertain the viewers by sexually arousing them.

Porn videos can be a turn-on and can provide inspiration for real-world sex. Many couples find it arousing to watch a sexy video together before or during sexual play. Or, a sexy video can be used as an aid to a self-pleasuring session.

While enjoying porn videos as a sexual stimulant, It’s important to remember they are primarily entertainment, not education. They are often more about sexual fantasy than real-life sex. Unfortunately, the only sex “education” many have received has been by watching porn videos.

Although porn videos are not intended to be educational, it is possible to learn new sexual techniques by watching porn videos. On the other hand, most of what is presented in porn videos is designed primarily to arouse and entertain.

Watching couples interact in porn videos can leave a viewer with unrealistic expectations about sex. Positions are frequently awkward, with the primary goal not shared pleasure, but ideal camera viewing angles.

Sexual behavior is typically staged to provide entertainment. Men almost always ejaculate outside a woman’s body instead of inside her, to prove to the viewer it’s “real sex.” In these films, every woman is a nymphomaniac who jumps at sex at the slightest hint. Every man is a sex god who never struggles with keeping an erection.

2. Educational Videos are for Learning

Some sexual videos are designed primarily for education rather than entertainment. These can typically be identified by their titles, which make their educational intention clear. “Couple’s Guide to Great Oral Sex,” or “Basic Sex Positions,” are examples of this category.

These videos frequently start with a narrator describing the topic of the video. After they talk about each aspect of the topic, they typically show scenes of couples or singles demonstrating the techniques discussed. Depending on the film, these are either “soft porn” in character, or very explicit and X-rated.

Educational videos are designed primarily to instruct in sexuality.

The value of explicit educational films is that they help you to learn by watching other people engaging in sex. As humans, we learn almost everything we do by first watching other people doing it. Sex is the one great exception.

Before my wife and I were married (both virgins at the time), we read books such as “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex” hoping to learn more about how to sexually please each other. Although these books talked about sexuality in general, they did not provide the level of detail or the diagrams or photos we needed to understand what their text was hinting at. It was not until a year or two afterward that we encountered the book, “The Joy of Sex.” With its explicit drawings and descriptions, we learned much more about practical sexuality.

What Type of Sex Videos Should Seniors Watch?

1. Watch Porn Videos for Entertainment and Arousal

For entertainment, watch what turns you on. Porn videos can be used to spark sexual arousal for singles and couples that can prepare for and lead to enjoyable sex. It can have the same effect as reading erotic stories or romance novels, or fantasizing about sex.

Many seniors experience declining sexual desire. Men can have difficulty gaining and keeping an erection. The sexual arousal that comes from watching a video can spark sexual desire and can help men and women become aroused. This can help a man to get and keep an erection when desired. It can also help to keep sex from becoming boring or routine when a viewer sees a new technique or position they want to try.

Sex videos cover every area of human sexuality. Websites offering sexual videos for sale or rent often provide lists of categories that group videos together according to sexual topics. Unless it is something illegal like sex with a child, there are sex videos available to meet every interest and fantasy.

I suggest you start with your favorite sexual fantasies and find videos to view in that category. I also recommend that you browse the list of categories available. Take a look at the previews (if available) of those that catch your interest. You may find that a topic you never considered before is a turn-on for you.

Keep in mind, as with everything else, the quality of porn videos can vary. Some are done with professional directing, lighting, and a sense of class and beauty. Others appear to be unprofessional rush jobs and can be quite crude, and the acting lame.

2. Watch Educational Videos to Learn More about Sex

Too many seniors stopped learning about sexuality after they married. Their sexuality has become boring and routine. Worse, over time their sexual desires have changed, along with the desires of their partners. Having sex the way they always did in the past is no longer comfortable and enjoyable. They could benefit from learning some new sexual skills and communicating with their partners.

Educational sex videos are a great way for seniors to learn about new sexual techniques. In these videos, seniors can both hear about and watch others demonstrate the behavior they are interested in learning more about.

Educational videos cover a large range of topics. Browse the topics at a website that features educational videos and pick a few that interest you.

Watch videos together with your partner and discuss them. What turned you on? What turned you off? What would you like to try? Videos can lead to increased communication and exploration.

Watch educational videos to learn new things about sex.

As with porn videos designed for entertainment, educational videos can also be of varied quality. Some are very well done. Experts give helpful sexual information, the acting is good, and it is filmed with sensitivity and has excellent production values.

On the other hand, some educational videos are poorly made. They seem to be primarily entertainment videos masquerading as educational videos. Watch previews if available to see what kind of film you’re dealing with. It can also be helpful to look at reader comments if available.

Where Can Seniors Find Good Sexual Videos?

Sex videos are available online and in local sexuality stores. I find that browsing and ordering videos online is the most comfortable and useful approach. Some people are uncomfortable going to a sex store. Online shopping allows you to shop in privacy at home. You can take as much time as you desire to explore what is available.

You can find quality entertainment and instructional sex videos online.

Many websites stock physical DVDs that can be ordered and shipped to your home (in discrete wrappers). Or, they offer online services that allow you to purchase and download videos to your computer, tablet, or phone. Many also provide the option of streaming videos to your device of choice rather than downloading them.

1. Where to Find Quality Porn Films

There are two online sites I would recommend for well-produced porn films designed primarily for entertainment. Both of these sites feature women producers and directors. Their films tend to appeal to women as well as men. They make films that are great for watching as a couple.

One site is frolicme.com. They offer subscriptions for the week, month, or year. Subscribers have access to all of their materials. They have beautifully filmed videos, erotic stories, photos, and audio.

Another popular site is erikalust.com. They offer a subscription model for access to all of their films, but also provide the option to purchase and stream or download individual films.

2. Where to Find Quality Educational Films

Good Vibrations sells sex toys and aids, but also streaming videos. They offer a large curated collection of both porn videos for entertainment, and instructional X-rated videos. For a more “professional” approach to sex instruction, I’d recommend those produced by The Sinclair Institute. While very explicit, they also take seriously their goal of providing excellent sexual education.

Seniors Watching Sex, Oh My!

Seniors watch sex videos for two primary purposes: entertainment and instruction. If you have moral objections to watching people having sex or are too uncomfortable to do so, that’s your choice. Please don’t judge other seniors who might not share your feelings and make their own choices.

Those who want to spark their libido or become sexually aroused before a self-pleasuring session or a couples’ encounter can watch videos as an aid to sexual arousal. Many seniors struggle with declining desire for sex as they age, and sexual videos can help to restore that desire for sex.
